The fact that the school year has come to a close, achievement tests completed, final papers written, and records stored away, seems somewhat surreal to me. I keep asking myself, where does time go, and why does it have to go so quickly?
This coming school year (2016-2017) is the last school year with my daughter, Kylah. This realization hit me like a ton of bricks as I was wrapping up my school records. It seems like yesterday that we were doing phonics at the kitchen table, using beans to learn place value, and reading and rereading our favorite Five in a Row books. Precious memories. This is our last summer before she steps through that door clearly marked “adulthood.” I don’t want to miss a minute of it.
As usual, I am facing a frantically busy summer. I have more plans than any ten people could accomplish in these three precious months of warmth and no snow. As usual, I am praying over my plans and asking God to show me what my priorities should be. As He makes my path straight before me, I want to share with you all what I am going to be accomplishing, and what I am going to be putting on the back burner on low heat.
As most of you know, I am working on Math 6. In the work/writing area of my life, this is top priority, and I am exceedingly excited about it! I am also going to be working with the team at Master Books as they repackage and redesign America’s Story, Parts 1, 2, and 3. Yay – I can’t wait to share with you the plans for these books! It’s so exciting!
After much prayer and thought, I have decided to slide the narration journal project to the back burner. (When I started planning them, I did not know that I would be writing Math 6 this year.) Instead, I will be working on them throughout this coming school year and making them available as digital downloads as I finish each book unit.
In my free time this summer, I am going to enjoy my family. I am going to soak in what I know will be the last days of this era of our family’s lives.
Have an awesome summer, everyone!
