My name is Angela O’Dell, a Jesus follower, wife to my very best friend, mom to four wonderful children, fellow homeschooler, author and speaker at Master Books (author of the Math Lessons for a Living Education and the America’s Story history series), and owner of Jelly Bean Jar Publications.
This blog is meant to be a place of encouragement. I do have a website/e-store (jellybeanjar.org) and the math and history series are available through masterbooks.com if you are looking for the place to buy my books, but I wanted to keep this blog as a place where mommas just like you can come for a bit of a relaxing chat, some encouragement for the journey, and even a few helpful tips in homeschooling and parenting. I’ve been around the block a few times, been a homeschooler for eighteen years (graduating my three eldest children), been married almost twenty-five years, and had my fair share of crazy days. Although I haven’t arrived anywhere yet, I’m old enough to have some hard-earned wisdom but young enough to connect with the newest generation of homeschool mommas.
In the last few years, my life has taken a turn in an all new direction. In July of 2015, I signed a new book deal with an incredible publishing house, New Leaf Publishing Group, which is the parent company of Master Books. The last two years have been a whirlwind of activity, a lot of long hours, and an immensely grateful heart. Working with Master Books has opened the door for me to travel and speak at homeschool conferences all over the country. It has been an incredible joy to meet so many of the families that have been touched by my books. In this whole process, I have discovered how much I love to encourage and lift up my fellow homeschooling mommas (and dads!). Although I come home absolutely exhausted from these conferences, I find abundant living and huge fulfillment in speaking and encouraging others.
That is what I want for this blog. I want everyone who comes “through my door” to be uplifted, encouraged, and equipped. I want you, my friend, to return to your day with a new spring in your step and your eyes lifted to the greatness of our God.
I want you to know that you have a friend in me, and even better, we both have a Friend in Jesus.
